Sam Hadfield
I am influenced by the perpetual flux and evolution of the city and its surrounds and seek to rationalise and suspend it through image making.
My primary interests are the built environment and the managed landscape, and I aspire to ascertain the presiding character and spirit of my subjects through research-led, long-term engagement. My practice is motivated by the experience of place and a desire to expose the transformative and accumulative effects of historic, economic and cultural forces upon them.
Originally from the North West of England, now based in East London, I am a graduate of the MFA Photography program at Ulster University. My work has been published and exhibited internationally including at Jeannie Avent Gallery ( London, UK) Format Festival (Derby, UK) and The European Biennale of Young Artists, (Skopje, Macedonia)
